While the start of your ultracycling and/or bikepacking journey can seem daunting, collectives and groups are beginning to blossom worldwide to help those interested in the sport begin.

On May 14 & 15, The Transibérica Club - an event group focused on spreading the word of long-distance cycling - gathered a group of women to confidently explore the sublime Spanish sierra located in Bilboa, Spain. The first Women’s Collective Camp was a massive success, as many of these riders surpassed their records on the bike, riding +335 kilometers and climbing over 5000 meters of elevation. Thanks to the club organizers, they had all of the gear, guidance, and navigation needed to wander throughout the wonderland safely.

Female participation in these kinds of events is low, which is why the WCC was created. By providing a safe space for these women to explore themselves, their limits, and the world of ultracycling, Transibérica hopes to change this.

“There is immense power when a group of people with similar interests gets together to work toward the same goals.” – Idowu Koyenikan

Stay tuned for the next WCC camp being held in September, where these courageous cyclists will pedal throughout the Pyrenees, in hopes of encouraging more women to push beyond their comfort zones and enter the realm of endurance events.

We explore routes long and meandering. We climb to the peaks and descend through the canyons. And as we move forward, we actualize the potential of the future. It is our calling; to chart the path that lies ahead and move intentionally into the unknown. There is no purpose more noble.
